Final Round

I always feel nervous after hearing " Final round" when I play fighting games because it can judge me whether win the game or not. Similarly, final exams just the final round in our program. If I fail in the final, I will lose half of the course. We just finished the writing exam, which is the most difficult one. I mean, for me. However, I think I did not so bad as I thought. The topic I chose was to describe advantages of one kind of energy and I wrote nuclear power because basically I knew how it works. After the exam, I found nuclear energy is not only a kind of useful power nowadays, but also a good friend of many EAP 3 students cuz I noticed that most of students who chose this topic wrote about nuclear energy. In addition, none of them feel bad about writing but they thought they did a pretty good job. Yeah, glad to hear that.

Well, I think because of approaching the final, everybody's skills, which include both physical and mental, have been suddenly improved. Not far before the final, we had a wonderful party. We had food, fruit and all kinds of stuff. We kept talking and eating for hours. At.T first, I thought the food were too much to eat; on contrary, the food almost gone after the party because some people ate really fast and too much. Scott was a good example. When I was extremely full, he was still looking for something good to eat. LOL!

Anyways, exams haven't been finished and we shouldn't be relaxed. More challenge are still waiting for us.

Get Shocked

I got shocked yesterday. The shock was from my room-mate. I came back home after working and turned on my computer. Then Alex, who is one of my room-mate messaged me through MSN and told me he wouldn't be home tonight. I asked why. He said he would stay up and work on his dissertation whole night. I couldn't believe it at first because he always work in front of his computer nine out of ten times I saw him. Now, he became even harder than before. What he told me was he had to finish his paper in order that he could get extra time to revise it. Today, I arrived home after school and thought he must be sleeping. However, no body at home. When I was wondering, door was open. It was Alex and he looked tired---he kept studying a night and a day! I said with smile "Oh! You works really hard!" But he seemed very serious and said that at least I don't have exams. If you don't work harder than me, you gonna fail in the university.
To be honest, this words let me think for a while. I admit that I am not a hard-working student because the atmosphere made me feel kind of relaxed. We both in the same university. Although we are not in the same faulty and the same level, we have to face to the final of the semester. Compared to him, I didn't push myself in the final exam. What I need to do is try my best, both in the final exam and in the future. Whether pass this level or not is totally another story.

Successful Universities

Last couple of weeks, while I was walking in the university, I was thinking about a question. Looking at students from all over the world, I wondered why they come to here and study? Generally speaking, every year millions of students come to study in North America. Like Chinese international students, which take the highest percentage of them, have to pay huge tuition fees but they still choose to leave their own country. Why? I think the reason is not just the job crunch in China, but the problem is educational system.

Educational system sounds really common; however, it contains lots of things. I checked Li kai fu's blog, who used to be the vice-president of Microsoft, and found some edification from it. A successful university just like a private company, everything needs to be judged by itself. Things like tutors, courses have to be adjusted with the situations of the university. Some universities are controlled by governments so for example, they have to wait for funds from the governments. In contrast, a private school get money from foundation so that they have more freedom. Because of this, these universities can improve very fast and it is why private universes, especially in the US achieve a great success. In addition, these universities may try some different ways to improve. Some of them are crazy, like the MIT(Massachusetts Institute of Technology) has spent about a hundred million dolloars in order to share 2000 courses on the Internet for free. Although the university has lost huge profit, it is good way for them to try distance education and become the best university of engineering. Compared to them, Chinese universities are far behind so there in no doubt that students come to here and study.

Hitman, between game and movie.

I have been waiting for the movie "Hitman" for a long time, and finally I watched it because I am a super fans of this game. This game is developed by a company called IO in Denmark and it has 4 series so far. I remembered when I first played this game, I couldn't admire more about the great idea of the game: you acted as a hitman who named 47 to assassinate certain people for money. In addition, I have convinced my father to play this game and he really got into it. After several years later, it has become a movie, which was wonderful news for me. However, finishing the movie, I felt a little frustrated.

Although the movie was about Hitman, the scenarist just like created a new story based on the game. I totally could not find any connection between the movie and the game. Also, the actor who acted the 47 was not what I expected. Probably the one in the game has impressed me a lot but I won't say I satisfied with the movie. The actor was a little bit young so he looks not that mature except his stony expression.Furthermore, to my surprise, the agent 47 always stayed with a woman in the movie, which has completely destroyed the image of 47 in the game.

Well, I think it does not happens occasionally because if people really love a novel or a game, after they become a movie, every single change will make people uncomfortable so I don't wanna complain anymore and what should I do is go back to the game and enjoy myself haha.

This year is much better

It was snowing. Just several hours ago, nothing happened. But after I finished working and came out of the Market Mall, I was shocked by the scene in front of me---heavy snow. The first reaction that came to my mind was not how beautiful it was. However, at that spot, I realized I haven't wore anything!! Gloves, hats, thick clothes...nothing! So, surely, I had to suffer from the snow. It was true that I didn't stop sneezing and shivering until I arrived home.
Well, definitely, this year is much better than last year. I mean the weather. If you notice that, it was the first , standard and " official" snow of this year. The last month's snow was quite small that just like a joke. Compared to last year, today's snow was late. I was wondering these days because I could still wear thin clothes in November. This time of last year, it was minus thirty! Especially for me, it was extremely crazy and impressed me a lot because I used to wait for a bus for about forty minutes at this kind of temperature! But anyways, this is my second time to spend winter time in Canada so that I have enough experience to survive from the cold weather that could make people dead!

My Computer SUX

My computer really sucks mainly because its graphic card and memory. I didn't recognized they could become a big problem after I just bought; however, I was always baffled by them. For example, if I run more than three programs, my computer will lag, which made me feel uncomfortable. This problem is caused by memory , for it only has 1GB. If I want to download something, I had better leave my computer away, or some programs will not response so that I have to restart my computer.
The day before yesterday, I reinstalled my computer and I changed my operating system from XP to Vista. Well, definitely, the interface of the Vista looks cool, but this system takes about 7G that I found my computer became slower. Sometime it even got stuck when I was checking my E-mail. It's terrible.
Also, the graphic card is disadvange. If I use my laptop for study, it is totally enough. If I use it for playing games, the troubles will be coming. I remembered that I download 5 games but I could only play 2 of them becasue my graphic card could not support them. In addition, I cannot update these hardware because this is a brand computer. For me , a person who has played PC Games for nine years, it is the sadest thing.
But one thing that I almost forget is my laptop only costs 700 dollars. Haha. Not everything is bad.

Watch SAW IV

Today Mark and I, as well as some other our friends went to the Chinook centre to watch movie SAW IV. Actually I don't like horror movies at all but I was convinced by Mark this time probably because I thought it was a good way to relax at the end of this week by watching a movie.

Due to it was the first time that SAW IV was showed to audience today, there were large amount of people there and before the movie started, no seat was available in the theatre. Although I have never seen other series that precede SAW IV so that it always made me confused, the scene of the movie was awesome, which was extremely violence and bloody. During the time of watching the movie, it was easy to see people get killed by cruel way. In addition, people easily get shocked by watching splash of blood. I remembered some description of this movie: "
Brutal Violence, Gory Scenes, Disturbing Content" Well, it is true. When I left the theatre, I saw some girls was still sitting on their seats with clothes covered on their bodies and felt scared. I highly recommend you to watch this movie if you get bored; however, you had better think twice whether you can stand the scene of the movie!!
